Fee-OnlyFinder

How we verify

Fee-Only Finder is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.

Sources

We load the SEC's IAPD compilation reports for SEC-registered and state-registered investment advisers (Form ADV Part 1A). We keep firms that are currently registered — SEC status approved, or approved in at least one state — that report individual or high-net-worth clients in Item 5.D, that have a street address on file, and that did not check commissions as a form of compensation in Item 5.E. Exempt reporting advisers are excluded.

“No commissions reported” is a narrower test than the CFP Board's or NAPFA's definition of fee-only, which also look at compensation received by related parties. We show each firm's other business activities from Item 6.A — for example, if it is also an insurance agency — so you can judge for yourself.

Assets under management, accounts, clients and employees are the firm's own figures as of its latest annual Form ADV amendment. If the firm answered “yes” to any disciplinary question in Item 11, we say so neutrally and link to IAPD, where the details and outcomes are published. We do not interpret, score or rank those disclosures.

Lists are alphabetical. We do not rate, rank or recommend advisers. Sponsored firms appear in a separate, labelled box and never change the order.

What a badge means

SEC/state registered: the firm appears as a currently registered investment adviser (SEC status “approved”, or approved in at least one state) in the SEC's Investment Adviser Public Disclosure compilation report on the date shown. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.

Freshness

Data was last refreshed on 2026-09-30. The SEC publishes the compilation reports daily; we re-pull them weekly.
